I would like to remind the
town residents that are coming into the
DPW
yard to pick up resident sand to use caution when
entering and exiting the property. Over the last
few years we have noticed an increase in the
number of residents taking advantage of this
service. People are driving too fast and there
have been several close calls between our
equipment and residents' vehicles.
During winter operations we
have many trucks delivering sand, salt and
supplies to us as well as our own trucks going in
and out of the yard getting loaded with material.
It would be extremely helpful
if residents could enter and exit the property
using our second entrance located at the west side
of the building (the side closest to Westboro).
Please drive slow, be aware of what is going on
around you and stay out of the way of the trucks.
DPW
employees are doing everything they can to keep
the roads safe and when they get stuck behind
vehicles in our own parking lot it is not only
frustrating but it slows down our operation.
The building that we store
our sand and salt in is for employees only. Residents
should not park in front of or be inside this
building. Again we have had many near accidents
with our equipment and vehicles because people
pull right up behind the loader while it is
working inside the building and we have nearly
backed over vehicles and residents walking around.
We are happy to provide this
service however safety and efficiency is our first
priority.
