The
Economic Development Committee (EDC)
represents the ongoing efforts to
improve the well-being of Hopkinton’s
residents. The EDC guides economic
development initiatives with a balance
between the desire for tax revenue and
the rural-residential character
resident’s value.
The 2007-2008 EDC goals established
in the Hopkinton Master Plan 2007 are
designed to support the promotion and
development of Hopkinton’s
industrial resources.
2007 Goals
- Focus on Downtown Revitalization
- Encourage new businesses
through zoning, tax incentives,
infrastructure improvements, and
marketing Hopkinton; and working with
the Chamber of Commerce to achieve
these ends
- Increase and diversify
the utilization of non-residentially
zoned areas
- Incorporate economic growth in the
Town’s long-range fiscal planning
- Provide adequate
utilities in commercial and industrial
areas, especially water and sewer
- Develop
specific design standards for the
business and industrial zoning
districts.
