Hopkinton Mosquito Control Project
THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURE MUST BE FOLLOWED IN ORDER TO EXCLUDE
YOUR PROPERTY FROM MOSQUITO SPRAYING:

Requests for designation of exclusion from mosquito spraying may be made by supplying the Town Clerk’s office with a certified letter that provides your name, address, and phone number; the names of all abutters; and indicates the program from which the exclusion is requested. Designations should be made prior to
March 1 of each year, and shall be effective from April 1 to March 31 of the following year.

Ground Applications: Boundaries or areas to be excluded from spraying shall be marked at least every fifty (50) feet by white paper plates or other similar appropriate means. These markings shall be made known to the person causing the application to be made, who shall be responsible for communicating the details of
this marking to those who will carry out the application.

The full text of regulation 333 CMR is available here.

Complaints about mosquitoes and requests for spraying may be registered by calling the CMMCP office at 508-393-3055 between 7 am – 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

Questions on the project can be directed to the Hopkinton Board of Health at 508-497-9725, or to CMMCP at
508-393-3055. More information can be found on the CMMCP website.

Hopkinton Mercury Recovery Project
The Hopkinton Board of Health is working with other town officials to offer Hopkinton residents and businesses a central facility to dispose of their household items that contain mercury.

Fluorescent bulbs may be returned during business hours to Hitchings Hardware or Hopkinton Lumber, where containers have been provided for proper disposal.  Ballasts, thermometers, and thermostats, as well as all button cell batteries from watches, cameras, calculators, hearing aids, sneakers, "talking books" and digital organizers may all be recycled at the Board of Health in Town Hall during business hours.  Button batteries only may also be recycled at the Wood St. Recycling Drop-off center.

If you have any questions or comments you may contact  the Hopkinton Board of Health, 508-497-9725. You may also contact Tom Drechsler with the Hopkinton Recycling Committee, 508-435-6154 (evenings only please).
